PROLINK
CHAIN LUBE - INSTRUCTIONS
|
PROLINK CHAIN LUBE - is a metal treatment, a super lubricant and a
metal cleaner all in one.
Metal treatment means the molecules in ProLink penetrate the chain
and invisibly bond to make all the chain's (or other metal
component's) surfaces slippery smooth. Apply as follows for a
dry, clean and well-lubricated chain all year round.
It is desirable on the first application that the chain be clean,
DRY, and free from solvents. You may use ProLink to initially clean
the chain of other lubricants, dirt and grease and grime by pouring
ProLink on the chain, rotating the cranks and wiping off the
result. Alternatively, you may initially clean your chain
with a solvent, but ensure that the solvent is completely removed
from the chain before commencing to apply ProLink for
lubrication.
Upon obtaining a clean chain surface apply a wet coating of ProLink
to envelope the chain whilst spinning the cranks backwards. Allow
ProLink to penetrate the chain links.
Now allow the chain wet with ProLink to stand on the chain for a
while (even overnight). This final step allows the molecules
in
ProLink to bond to the chain's surfaces. The longer you leave ProLink on
your chain in a wet state before wiping the chain dry, the more
ProLink's molecules will bond with the chain and the longer and
more satisfying ProLink will perform.
In WET or MUDDY conditions, you may apply ProLink before and
especially after the ride to insure corrosion
protection.
Because of the continued cleaning action of ProLink, it may be
desirable to re-apply as traces of dirt and grime continue to be
flushed out from between the pin and the roller of each
link.
An amazing benefit of using ProLink is that after you have been
riding and wish to remove any small particles of dirt or dust from
your chain, you can simply squirt a little ProLink onto a rag, wipe
it through the chain, while spinning the cranks backwards, and in
10 seconds flat all dirt will be removed from the chain, and you
will have a completely dry, clean, smooth chain.
Thus there is no reason why you cannot easily and conveniently
have a shiny, clean and smoothly operating chain 27-7, 365 days a
year!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
“Do I have to clean the chain before applying
PROLINK?”
Absolutely
not!
It’s
true that the chain must be clean for PROLINK to work, but
in fact, it is much better to use PROLINK to clean the
chain. PROLINK will do as good a job of cleaning as other
cleaners on the market yet will not compete with the “MFR”
(Metal Friction Reducer) while it is treating the metal surface.
This means that you clean as you lube the chain simultaneously.
While other cleaners may clean between the pin and roller, they
might also contain additives which could hinder the effect of
MFR. PROLINK is a "one stop" total cleaning and
lubricating solution for your chain and 100's of other metal
surfaces where clean high quality lubrication is
required.
“How long will PROLINK last?”
The
answer depends on what type of riding you do.
Feedback
indicates that you should ride 2-3 times longer between
applications as compared with what you had been using.
This
is based on what you determine to be the first sign that
re-application is necessary, (i.e. squeaking, link binding, or that
contamination begins to stick to the chain). However, you
should nevertheless get 100's of kilometers off silky smooth riding
between applications if you apply it according to the instructions
listed on this site.
“Is it possible to use too much PROLINK?”
No,
since PROLINK contains no solids like Teflon, graphite,
moly, or waxes to build up and get tacky, overuse is not
possible. Each
application of
PROLINK will
add invisible friction modifying molecules to the
surface of the chain and will
in effect make the chain smoother in operation
and more water resistant. By
re-lubricating regularly you’ll appreciate the real advantage of
PROLINK.
“Will PROLINK wash off when I clean my bike?”
Not
if you just use just soap and water or a mild degreaser.
Remember,
PROLINK repels moisture so rinsing off the bike is not a
problem.
Avoid
the use of solvent based degreasers.
“How does PROLINK perform around salt water?”
Our
experience has been that PROLINK will perform as well as any
chain lube on the market when it comes to rust prevention.
A
salt water environment will simply require more frequent
applications to ensure maximum corrosion protection.
